Come Celebrate Richard Feynman’s 90th Birthday Party Take Part in Discussions, Talks and More Without Ever Leaving the Privacy of Your House or School!

The SciArt Media center in Second Life.
The SciArt Media and Learning Center in Second Life. The Feynman Lecture Hall can be seen to the left, art gallery and aquarium in the back, Sagan Tower in the center (with the Asimov center behind it), and the jazz club, science and nature store and virtual volcano (hidden) are on the right.
Dr. Feynman is no longer with us in body, but he certainly still reigns large in the minds of science.

Come join us for a weekend-long celebration on what would have been his 90th birthday weekend without ever leaving your home.

SciArt Media, of Temple, NH is sponsoring this event at their virtual Media Center in the digital world of Second Life. Ordinary people, teachers, speakers, and presenters from around the world, each in the form of a unique digital persona designed by them, will take part in this unique and wholly modern event.

The event will be held on the grounds of the new SciArt Media Center (http://secondlife.sciartmedia.com) which is made up of nearly 2.5 virtual acres containing classrooms, science publishing displays, a virtual volcano, science and nature related digital goods, music, an art gallery, aquarium, and lots more.

Entrance to the event itself is free, although a voluntary $5 ($L1250) donation is requested to help cover costs. Entrance to special events may require a cover charge to cover expenses related to the speech.

NOTE: The keynote speaker has changed from Alex Filippenko to George Djorgovski.

Announced guests so far include (all times are PDT/SLT):

George Djorgovski (Curious George)
Prof. of Astronomy at Caltech (RL) and a member of MICA (SL)
Speaking on: "The Dark Mysteries: What is the Universe Made Of?"

Modern cosmology has made a great progress in our understanding of the physical universe and its constituents. We now know that only about 5% of the entire matter and energy content of the universe is made out of the atoms and particles we know about; nearly a quarter is made out of the mysterious dark matter, and nearly three quarters is an even more mysterious dark energy, which drives the expansion of the universe. Their physical nature remains unknown, and this is one of the greatest outstanding puzzles in physical sciences today.
